Challenge: Users need a way to book a room from online.
Solution: Create a homepage for the NYC Hotel.
NOTE: This was part of the Google UX course. Since my project required only one screen and the goal was simply "create a homepage for a NYC hotel", many of the required tasks weren't required (multiple screens/pages, etc.). As such, this case study is also limited, because my project was limited
Role
UX researcher and UI/UX designer
Research
I began researching the needs of users and what would benefit them the most. I also looked into hotel sites from common hotel chains and swedish hotels. Once a design was picked, I concluded my study with a digital wireframe.

User
I interviewed several participants and created a user persona.

From the insights found during the interview process and creation of the persona, I learned valuable information on how and what to build.
Solution
I took the insights from the interview and created a website's homepage based off of those insights.

Usability
After the initial design, I conducted a quick usability study on one user. I received great feedback which provided a few insights on what was good and where the site could be improved.
What I Learned
I learned that people enjoy having quick access to a website with the booking option available from the homepage. I also learned that users like knowing the benefits upfront, and not tucked away behind multiple screens. I even learned that a simplistic design can fit a modern look if done properly.
